Greetings Gentle Readers,

As you may already know, I just moved into a new studio in a different part of town. And people are really friendly here; they all want to know who I am and what I'm doing with the space.

So I've been spouting my standard lie; I do web design, photography, & video production ... which is completely true ... I just never bothered to mention that it's all BDSM oriented.

So here's the rub. I now have a plethora of motherfuckers (a dance studio, an adult daycare, a glass company, and the Chairman of the local Democratic party) who all want me to build them websites. Thank God I actually know how to do that.

So here's the question: ever lied your way into a job?

By the way, if anyone else needs a website, I'm reasonable, skilled, and open for business.

Just wait till they ask to come in to see your web design "equipment." That or are you going to add one of your banners to their websites?

I do Marketing Communications consultancy, media training and corporate video... Which is what my vanilla job was for many years... I've had people ask me to media train them (which I have done in the "olden days") but I always say I specialise in technology (or whatever area they're not involved in).

Though I have to say in the olden days I'd have loved to been able to have an electro device attached to my spokespeople so I could shock them when they forgot their key messages and started rambling!

I've never lied to get a job, but I have taken jobs for which I wasn't fully qualified, usually because the hiring manager was desperate, and both sides thought I could be brought up to speed. Sometimes it's worked out gloriously, and a couple of times it was a terrible experience.

That said, congratulations on the success. It sounds as though Opportunity isn't knocking; it's at the door with a battering ram and a no-knock warrant.

That's funny!

When dommes ask me if I can cook, I tell them I make a wonderful seafood and pasta entree. They get very excited until they see me pull out the box of Tuna Helper.

Sometimes I lure them over for dinner by saying I plan to cook Sea food. Then I serve a PB&J sandwich and explain that I made it, and that anything I make I describe as Sea food.

I also make sure that the only items that are light enough to pick up to use to hit someone in the near vicinity are cushions.
