I know... that's where my problems come from. I want to live in NYC with a big ass garden, which means I have to be significantly more wealthy than I am. GAH!

Were you in the Air force, or were you a brat?
I like Chicago, actually. Quite a lot. It's the rest of the state I have issues with. I went to University in (looks around quickly to make sure no one is eavesdropping) Peoria, folks live down south so I feel like I can speak for the whole state.
I have an enema with your name on it should you find your way toward NYC...

'near DC by way of New Jersey and Manhattan'. Am mulling this over in my sharp little mind, and still think further explanation is called for!

That's the thing about NYC. It's home to a lot of people who never felt at home anywhere else. Right on!

And don't you start looking elsewhere! It's good to be in New York, for many reasons and in many ways. I'm reaching that point where I could see myself leaving, but still... I can't quite bring myself to do it. I guess that's love!

I was the same. Moving around a lot brought me a lot of strength, but not a lot of friends. I remember every time we moved being brought up to the front of the class and introduced to all those kids who already knew each other and having to tell the story of my life. It got old. And not having any childhood friends is strange. But I like who I am, so I guess it did me more good than harm.

See, even when it is really cold, I just can't envy warm Christmases. I want to see my breath and hope for snow and put on snuggly jammies and watch the grinch drinking hot chocolate. Ms Wynter, if you come out for Xmas, we will take you ice-skating on the beach, beneath the decorated palm trees. It's quite nice, and plenty cold on the ice. Reverently, Étienne

Mistress Wynter; I served in the AF, but come to think of it probably before your time; late 60s, early 70s. Lackland, Chanute, Pope, Ellington...anything familiar? I have an enema with your name on it should you find your way toward NYC... Oh my, someone's been reading my posts; actually, I take that as a compliment! Feeling a little obligated...

Dear Mistress Wynter, With all due respect ... I'm originally from the snowy East Coast: upstate New York. Sometimes, I still conduct myself as a native New Yorker -- and get dolled-up in elegant evening attire for a glamorous night on the town! Nowadays ... Southern California is my sunny West Coast home, and in my spare time, you can often find me at the beach, or chilling-out in shorts and bare feet! Until later, take care! :-) Cheers and Very Respectfully, surferdoc

Ah... every time I think about a home on the Oregon coast and how amazingly beautiful it must be there, I want to hit you upside your head with a cast iron skillet.
Is that wrong?
hehehehehe. Cast iron? Ouch. You are right it is beautiful here. Today the two fawns were here and yesterday I had a bald eagle sitting on one of the trees overlooking the lake.

I wouldn't say I'm close but was probably going to have to travel somewhat anyway. Besides, might as well play with the Best (or at least one of them).

I would suggest heading out the day after Christmas. Spend the day with snow and hot chocolate, then travel some place warm for a week or two. Best of both worlds.

Ok, but you also have to promise the roasting chestnuts being sold on the streetcorners, the crisp ozone smell of the cold cold air, Rockefeller Plaza in high Christmas glory and chilly noses while shopping for prezzies!

Obligated is good! Enemas are good! My dad served in the 60's and 70's... but I was too little to be intimidating yet!!!

I imagine you would do NY quite beautifully.. how long since you've been back? Dear Mistress Wynter, With all due respect ... Hmmm ... around six years ago. I stayed in Manhattan for a weekend to see a Broadway musical. Then, I flew back to Southern California. Until later, take care! :-) Cheers and Very Respectfully, surferdoc

Ok, but you also have to promise the roasting chestnuts being sold on the streetcorners, the crisp ozone smell of the cold cold air, Rockefeller Plaza in high Christmas glory and chilly noses while shopping for prezzies! Ms Wynter, cold is bad. Bad, bad, bad. Give me Central Park in June--you can enjoy the frostbite months. Reverently, Étienne
